Peep Show star Matt King has treated himself to a Subway amid his recovery from a "stupid" stroke.

The 58-year-old actor was left temporarily paralysed following the medical emergency last week, and he is still recovering in hospital.

Matt - who portrayed Super Hans in the Channel 4 comedy - thanked fans for their "ongoing love", and told supporters he had ordered a club sandwich from the fast food restaurant.

He wrote on X: "Right now, recovering in hospital from a stupid stroke, I've ordered a Subway club from Uber Eats and I'm monging out to some Mazzy Star. Seriously though, they should find a f***ing cure. Thanks for the ongoing love. (sic)"

Matt's update comes after he took to Instagram last week to reveal he had suffered a rare stroke, which left his legs feeling like "jelly".

He wrote: "It’s true. I had a rare stroke of the spinal cord on Sunday. I was initially paralysed but was rushed to The Royal Sussex and the staff have been amazing.

"Can walk again, a bit. My legs were jelly, man. It didnt feel fucking brilliant. Thank you for all the love and kindness. (sic)"

Matt appeared in Peep Show alongside David Mitchell and Robert Webb, who portrayed main characters Mark Corrigan and Jez Usborne.

Other cast members included Olivia Colman, Sophie Winkleman, Jim Howick, and Isy Suttie.

Last December, Olivia, David, Matt, Isy and Sophie all reunited for a Christmas special of Channel 4's The Great British Bake Off, and The Bear actress Olivia was named Star Baker.

Beforehand, Matt insisted Peep Show's writers - Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong - were "still interested" in bringing the sitcom back for a "one-off" special.

He was quoted by The Sun newspaper's TV Biz column as saying: "When it ended in 2015, [writers] Sam and Jesse said to us, ‘We’ll see you in ten years. We’re going to write a one-off.'

"I did ask them six months ago. They said, ‘We still would be interested, but we’re just so busy, we can’t do a ten-year one’. I feel like it will happen."

Isy has also backed the idea of Peep Show returning, saying: "I’d do it, but we’d almost have to do it in 20 years with Mark and Jez in an old people’s home and us in the flats next door."

However, Sophie is not quite convinced the show should make a comeback.

She said: "It’s quite nice to preserve it as it is. I don’t know if things like that work."
