BBC's Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two 'to be turned into vodcast'
It has been claimed that BBC's Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two will be turned into a "vodcast" when it returns in September.
BBC's Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two is reportedly being turned into a video version of a podcast.
It has been claimed that the weekday companion show to the BBC's Latin and Ballroom dance programme is to receive the same vodcast treatment as The Traitors: Uncloaked, as part of a big shake-up of the corporation's Saturday night staple, which returns in September.
A TV insider told The Sun newspaper's TVBiz column: "There is definitely a creative renewal on the table for It Takes Two, and they are poised to sign off on the radical option of a vodcast.
"But Beeb bosses have seen it embraced on other huge BBC One shows, particularly The Traitors, where the Uncloaked aftershow got millions tuning in.
"More and more people of all ages and backgrounds enjoy podcasts and vodcasts, so, despite being quite a departure, it’s actually quite a shrewd move."
Claudia Winkleman, 54, first hosted It Takes Two from 2004 until 2010, when she moved over to the Saturday night show.
Zoe Ball, 55, took over from Claudia , and was joined by co-host Rylan Clark, 37, in 2019.
Zoe left in 2021 after a decade in the position, and was replaced by 42-year-old Janette Manrara - a professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing from 2013 until 2020.
After two years of co-hosting with Janette, Rylan stepped down, and 38-year-old singer Fleur East took his co-presenter reins.
The Sun recently reported that Janette and Fleur's hosting positions on It Takes Two, "could be at risk", but the BBC said in a statement that "it is incorrect to claim that either has been axed".
Janette appeared on the April 16 edition of BBC Breakfast and said she "doesn’t know" about her future on It Takes Two after five years in the position.
The star added: "We’ll have to wait and find out.
"I think everyone at the moment is on standby, so we’ll see what happens… That’s showbiz!"
It comes as Strictly Come Dancing bosses had axed professional dancers Karen Hauer and Nancy Xu, both 34, Gorka Marquez, 35, Nadiya Bychkova and Luba Mushtuk, both 36, and 30-year-old Michelle Tsiakkas as part of a big shake-up of the programme.
The hunt for new co-hosts continues after Tess, 57, and Claudia stepped down at the end of the 2025 series in December.
On Monday (20.04.26), The Sun reported that presenter auditions are being held this week, involving nine celebrities.
It is claimed that former BBC Radio 2 star Zoe, ex-Big Brother host Emma Willis, 50, and This Morning star Alison Hammond, 51, will attend.
They are believed to be joined by Celebrity Gogglebox alum Rylan, The One Show presenter Alex Jones, 49, and 65-year-old The Chase presenter Bradley Walsh.
As well as comedian Tom Allen, 42, RuPaul's Drag Race UK alum La Voix, 46, and 42-year-old The Apprentice: Unfinished Business host Angela Scanlon.
