Claudia Winkleman joins CBeebies Bedtime Story
Claudia Winkleman is set to appear on CBeebies Bedtime Story in October.
Claudia Winkleman is joining CBeebies Bedtime Story.
The 54-year-old broadcaster will read Monkeypig, the story written and illustrated by Huw Aaron, on October 1 on CBeebies, and Claudia is already looking forward to the opportunity.
The former Strictly Come Dancing host - who has Jake, 23, Matilda, 20, and Arthur, 15, with husband Kris Thykier - said: "When it comes to my kids, I’ve loved all the chapters.
"I love them when they are little, I love them when they are squishy, I love them when they are toddlers, I also love them when they are 23, like my eldest.
"Every little bit is a gift and I am so happy to have them. I’m looking forward to all of it. I’m really really looking forward to being a grandma. No pressure, guys.
"I am a deep embarrassment to my children because I’m too orange, my lipstick is too white and I wear too much black, so they find me excruciating and that’s just how it should be … I embarrass them but that’s our job. So if you find your parents embarrassing that’s good, it means they’re smashing it."
Claudia and Tess Daly, her showbiz pal, announced their exits from Strictly Come Dancing late last year.
The Strictly co-hosts - who have since been replaced by Emma Willis and Josh Widdicombe - said in a joint statement at the time: "We have loved working as a duo and hosting Strictly has been an absolute dream.
"We were always going to leave together and now feels like the right time. We will have the greatest rest of this amazing series and we just want to say an enormous thank you to the BBC and to every single person who works on the show. They’re the most brilliant team and we’ll miss them every day.
"We will cry when we say the last “keep dancing” but we will continue to say it to each other. Just possibly in tracksuit bottoms at home while holding some pizza."
