Coronation Street alum Lisa George shed three stone after the star's decorator said she "looks massive on telly".

The 55-year-old actress - who played Beth Tinker in the ITV soap from 2011 until 2024 - dieted in 2022 after she battled “stomach problems and bad gut health for years”.

Lisa explained in the new issue of Closer magazine: "I was never happy with my weight. I've had stomach problems and bad gut health for years, so I was always really bloated.

"I was sick of people telling me how fat I looked. Once, I had a decorator over, and he said, 'You look absolutely massive on telly!' I thought, 'I'm not employing you again!'"

But seeing herself on the ITV singing show, All Star Musicals, in 2022, gave her a wake-up call.

Lisa added: "I thought, 'How have I put on so much weight?' I was so ashamed. As soon as I got to my 50s and menopause hit, I just piled it on."

The Dancing on Ice 2015 contestant achieved her three-stone weight loss by being put on a low-FODMAP diet after she saw an endocrinologist about her stomach issues.

Cleveland Clinic says a low-FODMAP diet "reduces certain kinds of carbohydrates that are hard for people to digest. It’s often prescribed as an elimination diet to identify food triggers in those who have functional gastrointestinal disorders, such as IBS".

Lisa shared: "[It was] restrictive, but it told me what my body was having a reaction to. The weight just fell off. I was so mad with myself that I hadn't started getting my weight under control earlier."

However, the entertainer admitted she has gained weight since losing three stone.

Lisa added: "I've since put on around 7lbs, so I'm being careful with my diet again."

The star's transformation also included an £8,000 upper blepharoplasty and a brow lift to remove saggy skin around her eyes after feeling it was "ageing" her.

And Lisa feels more confident since having the pricy eyelid surgery in January 2025.

She said: "My eyes have opened up so much more, I smile better, and even my lashes look longer. I'm really pleased with the results and so happy I had it done.

"It's common when you're ageing to see your brows get lower, and your eyelids start drooping, but every time I squinted or smiled, my top lid would cover my whole eye. I'd look like I was frowning, and it'd make me feel so down."

And although Lisa is thrilled with the results of her recent cosmetic surgery, she wants work done to the lower part of her face to fully feel confident in her skin.

Lisa explained: "I've always had a round face, with lots of fat pockets, but as I've got older, my jowls have become so heavy.

"Some people say I'm lucky to have a full face because it's worse to look gaunt, but at a side profile, my chin hangs down, and my neck gives away my age really badly.

"It might sound extreme, but I've been to several professionals, and they've said, 'You could have Botox and filler all you want, but it still won't do what you're after - you need a lower facelift,' so I've decided that's what I'll do."
