Coronation Street alum Lisa George is having a lower facelift.

In January 2025, the 55-year-old actress - who played Beth Tinker in the ITV soap from 2011 until 2024 - went under the knife for an £8,000 upper blepharoplasty and a brow lift to remove saggy skin around her eyes after feeling it was "ageing" her.

And although Lisa is thrilled with the results of her recent cosmetic surgery, she wants work done to the lower part of her face to fully feel confident in her skin.

The star explained in the new issue of Closer magazine: "I've always had a round face, with lots of fat pockets, but as I've got older, my jowls have become so heavy.

"Some people say I'm lucky to have a full face because it's worse to look gaunt, but at a side profile, my chin hangs down, and my neck gives away my age really badly.

"It might sound extreme, but I've been to several professionals, and they've said, 'You could have Botox and filler all you want, but it still won't do what you're after - you need a lower facelift,' so I've decided that's what I'll do."

Lisa hopes her new look will put a stop to agonising over her appearance on TV.

The Dancing on Ice 2015 contestant said: "Denise Richards has just had a facelift and looks beautiful. I remember when Sherrie Hewson had a thread facelift years ago, and she looked amazing. So why shouldn't I?

"I don't want to grow old gracefully with great big bags and wrinkles, nor do I want to look scraggy. I want to look nice on screen, and there shouldn't be any shame in it.

"I'd hate to look at my face and think, 'Who the hell is that? Look at the saggy jowl.' I don't want to be critical anymore and wake up in the morning feeling haggard - I want to look brighter."

And Lisa hopes a lower facelift will result in her landing more projects on the box.

She said: "In the acting world, you get to 50 and then suddenly, they think you're a by-product. I've heard of one casting director who didn't want to see any portfolios from anyone over 30 - it makes my blood boil.

"Women my age have been through menopause, heartache, divorces, we're the ones with the tales to tell. It's all right for blokes - if they have wrinkles, they're applauded for looking distinguished!"

Lisa feels more confident since having an upper blepharoplasty and a brow lift in January 2025.

She said: "My eyes have opened up so much more, I smile better, and even my lashes look longer. I'm really pleased with the results and so happy I had it done.

"It's common when you're ageing to see your brows get lower, and your eyelids start drooping, but every time I squinted or smiled, my top lid would cover my whole eye. I'd look like I was frowning, and it'd make me feel so down."

Lisa went ahead with the cosmetic surgery after years of not being able to watch herself on TV because of the saggy skin around her eyes.

She said: "I hated any close-ups on Corrie. My character, Beth, would wear really heavy eyeshadow, and it would all collect in the creases. It was so noticeable, and my inner voice would constantly nudge me about it.

"It took three or four years of harping on about it before taking the plunge. It looked horrific to begin with - the bruises made me look as though I'd been beaten up - but I didn't feel a thing during surgery, and there's been no scarring, which I'm thrilled about."
