Geordie Shore 'poised to return for new series'
Geordie Shore has been commissioned for a new series, according to an insider.
Geordie Shore is set to return for another series.
The hit reality TV show - which has been plagued by axe fears in recent years - has been greenlit by Paramount for a brand new series, with filming set to begin in the coming weeks.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Talk has dogged Geordie Shore in recent years that the show will be rested as they are all grown up now, but it continues to do really well on MTV, as well as Paramount+, so bosses wasted no time greenlighting it for another run.
"Filming starts in a couple of weeks. This series will see the whole gang go on a babymoon-style holiday with pregnant Sophie and Holly Hagan Blyth ahead of their new arrivals.
"Both girls have also decided to allow cameras to film their births too for the show. They will be in control of how much is shown, but they want these special moments in their lives to be documented."
Sophie Kasaei recently let the news slip while filming a video at the hairdressers.
The reality TV star said at the time: "I have got baby showers coming up and there is exciting things coming up.
"I am going away with Geordie [Shore], so we’re filming, filming…"
Despite this, a TV insider previously acknowledged that Geordie Shore needs to evolve if it has any hope of surviving in the modern landscape.
The show premiered in the UK in 2011, and despite widespread criticism of the stars and the content, it quickly developed a sizeable following - but Geordie Shore bosses now recognise that it needs to move with the times.
The insider told The Sun newspaper: "Getting the whole cast in one place for weeks at a time just isn’t realistic.
"The big holiday villa and fixed-rig setup has been scrapped, it’s moving towards a more flexible, fly-on-the-wall style that follows the much loved cast in their real lives."
