Sinitta says I'm A Celebrity... South Africa was like I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! "on steroids".

The 62-year-old singer expected ITV bosses to be "softer" on her and her fellow South Africa campmates - who included Harry Redknapp, Gemma Collins, David Haye and Sir Mo Farah - after they had taken part in the Australian-jungle version of the programme, but she insisted it was "much harder" than the Oz equivalent.

She told OK! magazine: "You do these pre-interviews and I thought it meant it wouldn't be as bad. You know, because we're older, a bit more fragile maybe. But no... it's harder. Much harder.

"This version is worse, and I really wasn't expecting that. I thought they'd go softer on us the second time around, but absolutely not.

"If you're a fan, you're going to love it even more. This is the show on steroids. They really, really pushed us."

Sinitta joked she must be "an AI [artificial intelligence]" figure because she is still in disbelief that she made it through the I'm A Celebrity... South Africa series.

She said: "When I look back, I can't believe I did it.

"I actually think I must be an AI, because I don't know how I got through it.

"If I'd known what I know now, I wouldn't have gone.

"I'm back in one piece... ish. They did try to kill me in that jungle!

"They did everything to me that I said I didn't want done. But I guess that's how it works, isn't it?"

Earlier this month, Sinitta told how she battled "quite a few sleepless nights" after agreeing to take part in I'm A Celebrity... South Africa.

In an Instagram video, Sinitta was asked about her preparations for the show.

She replied: "To admit, I've had quite a few sleepless nights, anxiety because I'm scared of insects and bugs, and sleeping outside, and rats and snakes, and lions and tigers, and bears, oh my!

"But I really want to do it for some crazy reason. I feel like it's testing my faith, I feel like it's testing my strength and resilience as a woman.

"I think it's important to face your fears so long as you're not in real danger. But I won't be doing anything crazy to tempt the devil.

"I won't be bungee jumping, jumping out of planes, wrestling with tigers, wrestling, you know, alligators, crocodiles, nothing where I could actually die.

"But, I'm really, really, really gonna try to face my fears."
