Dannii Minogue teases future of the I Kissed series after BBC axed LGBTQ+ dating show
The BBC won't be making more of I Kissed A Girl or I Kissed A Boy, but Dannii Minogue has hinted the show could still have a future.
Dannii Minogue has teased the future of the I Kissed... franchise after the BBC axed the series.
The 54-year-old star - who has hosted the I Kissed A Boy and I Kissed A Girl shows since 2023 - is "super proud" of her work on the first same-sex dating series, which has alternated between men and women and will be back for a fourth series this year.
Taking to Instagram to promote the new show, Dannii said: "Lots of love and amore to Twofour productions who've put together this TV show, this series, and to BBC who have put this groundbreaking television on TV, and I am so happy to be a part of it.
"This show makes me super proud, because it is a chance to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, and we've had so many incredible cast members share their love, their life and their stories as part of our show.
"Season four featuring the girls is not far off, you will get to see it shortly, and who knows where the I Kissed series will go from there."
Her video on Tuesday (10.03.26) came the same evening as the BBC confirmed they wouldn't be moving ahead with future series.
A spokesman told The Sun newspaper's TVBiz column: "We are exceptionally proud of I Kissed A Boy/Girl, the UK’s first dating show for the LGBTQ+ community.
“We would like to thank our fabulous cupid Dannii Minogue and the entire team at Twofour for bringing the series to screen.
“Unfortunately, we have to make difficult choices in light of our funding challenges and there are no current plans for the show to return.”
Meanwhile, Dannii has also reflected on her pride at being involved in "such a powerful and important show".
She added: "Thank you Twofour Productions and BBC for allowing me to be a part of I Kissed A Boy and I Kissed A Girl series, it is such a powerful and important show.
“I’m so proud the show has given us the chance to celebrate so many people from the LGBTQ+ community, who made up our cast.
“I can’t wait for you to see the brand new series of I Kissed A Girl, bringing all the excitement and joy that this show represents.
“The integrity and intention of why it was created, along with the love and care from the crew and production over the four seasons, has made it the most special experience for me in almost 40 years of television.”
