Celebrity Big Brother's Chantelle Houghton reveals blunder at royal event
Chantelle Houghton recalled the time her grandparents received a call from Clarence House after she made a blunder at the event, weeks after she won Celebrity Big Brother in 2006.
Chantelle Houghton's grandparents received a call from Clarence House after she left her passport there.
The 42-year-old TV personality made the blunder as she enjoyed having afternoon tea with the then-Prince Charles, 77, and Prince William, 43, at the royal residence, weeks after her Celebrity Big Brother victory in 2006.
Asked by Betway what Chantelle's biggest pinch-me moment was at the height of her fame, the star recalled to Betway: "I got invited to Clarence House through the Prince’s Trust to have afternoon tea back in 2006. I was just weeks out of the Big Brother house.
"There were little pictures of Prince William when he was young, and I was standing next to Ant and Dec. Charles came in to greet everyone and shook my hand. It was surreal!
"I actually left my passport there, and they had to ring my emergency contact, who was my grandparents. That was a strange moment for them!"
Meanwhile, Chantelle reflected on her time on Celebrity Big Brother - in which she entered the house as a non-celebrity and convinced the housemates she was a member of the fictional girl band, Kandy Floss.
And the star - who was aged 21 at the time - regrets not standing up for herself amid an acrimonious relationship with 64-year-old former basketball player Dennis Rodman.
Asked if she would change anything about her time on the social experiment programme, Chantelle admitted: "My confidence in standing up for myself, but I was so young.
"I was in the house with Dennis Rodman, and we clashed. If I could go back and redo anything, I would have handled it differently and not been afraid to stand up for myself more than I did.
"I’m pleased with how I handled things as I tried to not let him bother me, but I wish I’d been more outspoken."
In April 2025, Chantelle - who famously found love in the house with her fellow co-star, Ordinary Boys frontman Preston - revealed one incident between her and Dennis.
The glamour model - who divorced Preston, 44, shortly after they got married, months after meeting on Celebrity Big Brother, and admitted she would not fall for him now - claimed to WDW Bingo: "Another thing, I was running out of foundation in the house and Big Brother had let me put it on the shopping list.
"The shopping got delivered, and I watched him basically get my foundation and put it in his pocket.
"He stole my foundation! I was thinking, 'How am I going to get my foundation back?' I didn’t want to say, 'I’ve just seen you put my foundation in your pocket.'
"Now, at my age, I would. But I was thinking, 'OMG, what am I going to do?' And then I asked him for it, and he said he didn’t have it – then in the end he gave it back.
"But yeah, he stole my foundation and really genuinely wasn’t very nice to me at all."
