Phil Wang "broke his elbow" after he "fell through a table" on the set of Wonka.

The 36-year-old comedian did not feel any pain because he was full of adrenaline playing wedding groom Colin in the 2023 musical film.

Phil told the new issue of Radio Times magazine: "I'm in Wonka for a glorious one minute and 48 seconds.

"It was my first day on a big movie set, and I broke my elbow falling through a table.

"But there was so much adrenaline surging through me, I didn't really feel the pain."

The comedy writer jokingly thinks his appearance in Wonka - which stars Timothee Chalamet, 30, as the titular chocolate maker, and focuses on Willy Wonka's beginnings before he launched his successful chocolate factory - is the best one minute and 48 seconds in British film history.

Phil then quipped: "I think British film will now be separated into pre-Colin and post-Colin."

Elsewhere in his interview, the star spoke about his excitement ahead of becoming a judge on the new series of The Great British Menu.

And Phil revealed bosses have urged him to be less harsh with his scores, following his 2021 guest judge stint on the BBC Two cooking show - which sees top UK chefs serve up their best dishes to the biggest names in the culinary world.

He said: "I was a bit mean with some of the scores. I was giving threes and fours, and the producers had to have a word, saying, 'People don't normally go below a six.'

"So I've gone in with a different attitude this time around. I get it."

Elsewhere, Phil - who was born in Stoke-on-Trent, but grew up in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia - had a series of culture shocks when he returned to the UK aged 16.

Phil - who, with his English mom and Chinese-Malaysian dad, moved to Bath - revealed: "The biggest culture shock was curry sauce, from a chip shop.

"I'd never had sweet curry glue. British food is now spectacular, though. It's unrecognisable compared to when I moved here."

And another was people reheating rice.

Phil said: "That was a shock. People were like, 'You will die if you eat a single grain of this reheated rice.' Which is weird because old rice is literally what you make fried rice out of."
