Oti Mabuse and her husband have monthly date nights
Former Strictly Come Dancing star Oti Mabuse and her husband Marius Iepere keep the spark in their marriage alive with monthly dates.
Oti Mabuse has monthly date nights with her husband Marius Iepere.
The former Strictly Come Dancing professional has revealed that she and her spouse are determined to keep the spark alive with activities such as spa trips and dancing.
Oti, who has a two-year-old daughter with Marius, told New! magazine: "We consciously try to remember to have date nights. We try not to let more than a month go by without going for a date, or to the spa.
"Even nipping out for a coffee and a walk – and simple, uninterrupted conversation – can feel like heaven, sometimes.
"Plus, we love our little dances at home. We don't competitively dance on our TikToks – it's about fun, and it's a great way to keep you close as a couple."
Oti revealed that she is keen to do a dance tour with her 2016 Strictly partner Danny Mac, although she and the Hollyoaks actor are yet to find the time in their busy schedules.
The 35-year-old star, who left Strictly after the 2021 series, said: "We talk about it all the time! We'd love to, genuinely – but he and Carly (Stenson, Danny's wife) just had a second baby, I have a little girl, so trying to align our schedules is tricky.
"But every time Strictly's on, we're WhatsApping each other going, 'When are we touring?' It's going to be 10 years this year – isn't that crazy?"
Oti says that her daughter – whose name she has not revealed – loves watching Strictly, in which her aunt Motsi Mabuse features on the judging panel.
She explained: "My daughter can't get enough of watching Auntie Motsi. Sometimes we try on dresses to watch it in, or copy one of Motsi's hairstyles.
"After the show, the real Auntie Motsi will then come to the house – so she'll wait up, and the excitement levels are through the roof when she walks in.
"But she'll say, 'Mummy! Auntie Motsi looks different!' As she's not in all her glam!"
Mabuse has also teased that her second novel will be released in the spring, following on from her racy debut Slow Burn about a dancer called Lira.
She said: "I'm very excited! The first book was so much fun.
"This one is about Lira and her sister and is still set in the world of dance, but ballet this time.
"And let's just say, it's even more spicy than the last!"
