Joel Beckett is relishing his return to Albert Square.

The 52-year-old actor is reprising the role of Jake Moon in EastEnders, and Joel has loved the experience of reuniting with some of his former co-stars on the soap.

The actor - who made his EastEnders debut back in 2004 - said: "It was really lovely to step back onto the Square after all this time and revisit Jake.

"Being back working alongside familiar faces, as well as some brilliant new ones, was a real joy and it was good to know that Jake had been out there, alive and well.

"He returns carrying plenty of unanswered questions and the storyline takes him in some unexpected directions with real twists and turns. I’m excited for people to see what he’s been up to."

Ben Wadey, the executive producer of EastEnders, is also thrilled to have Jake back in the Square.

He said: "I’m delighted to welcome Joel Beckett back to the role of Jake Moon and EastEnders for this storyline.

"Jake’s return will be a shock for many, but the biggest shocks of all will surround Jake and what he discovers about Christmas…"

In 2025, Anita Dobson - one of the soap's biggest-ever stars - returned to EastEnders as part of the show's 40th anniversary celebrations.

The actress reprised the role of Angie Watts to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the BBC soap, and Anita admitted to having a "wonderful" time on set.

Anita - who first played Angie, the wife of Den Watts, between 1985 and 1988 - told the BBC at the time: "I have to say a huge thank you to everyone on the EastEnders team for making me feel so welcome. It was joyful.

"When I first put the costume on, it was like ‘Wow’. It was very wonderful and weird at the same time."
