Stephen Mangan loves going for lengthy runs.

The 57-year-old actor and comedian has revealed that he enjoys the sense of accomplishment that he feels after running for up to three hours at a time.

Stephen told Woman's Weekly magazine: "Heading out on a three-hour run is the happiest I am all week. It's total headspace. Some people do yoga, meditate, sudoku... just trotting along for hour after hour is for me, I love that feeling of exhaustion at the end. You feel like you've really done something."

The Split star has revealed that he is planning to run the London Marathon once again this year.

Mangan explained: "I don't make New Year's resolutions but I set myself goals when it's harder to get the gears going. I'll probably do the London Marathon again in April and a half in March.

"To make sure I don't just sit eating all the Christmas chocolate!"

Stephen has a variety of jobs in TV and radio - including hosting Portrait Artist of the Year on Sky Arts and a Sunday afternoon show on Classic FM - and is willing to take on a project if it interests him.

Asked how he decided what jobs to take on, he said: "If it's something that I haven't done before and it sounds interesting and fun.

"When I started doing Classic FM a couple of years ago, it was something new. That's the exciting part."

The children's author added: "I still feel like I'm starting out - in my 50s. I am writing more books and that variety is great. As soon as you stop having something to aim for, you're kind of in trouble - you just atrophy and flatline.

"I want to keep feeling like I'm starting out, until I check out!"

Mangan has sons Harry, 18, Frank, 15, and Jack, nine, with his actress wife Louise Delamere and revealed that his children are more interested in politics than following their father into the showbiz world.

He said: "They're really into politics. It's been so interesting in the last few years. Me and Louise have been going about it a lot - it's a big subject at the dinner table.

"They're getting served stuff up from TikTok - they don't have to borrow their dad's newspaper! Hopefully they'll be very engaged as a generation."
