John Whaite 'crawled to the pavement' after accident
John Whaite has revealed that he was recently struck by a car.
John Whaite is feeling "OK" after being hit by a car.
The Strictly Come Dancing star has taken to social media to reflect on his dramatic accident, observing that his weight and muscle mass might've actually saved his life.
John, 36, wrote on Instagram: "Last night I got run over (seriously). I rolled up the bonnet damaging it and the windscreen, before splatting onto the road and crawling to the pavement where some angel of a human threw his coat around me and waited with me for an ambulance.
"The doctors said "thank god you're 16 stone of muscle because it could have been fatal".
"Moral of the story - build strong muscle and core strength, and don't wear black while crossing the road in the dark when an idiot comes speeding without looking...
"I've been scanned and poked and prodded and I'm ok. Still gay though. (sic)"
John later added: "For the avoidance of doubt, in my last post I said "speeding". I used the term figuratively rather than literally.
"I meant: It was sudden and shocking. I don't know what speed the driver was going. But it was enough to skittle me up onto his windscreen and down onto the floor. (sic)"
Last year, meanwhile, John opened up about his steroid addiction.
The TV star turned to drugs during lockdown, after being underwhelmed by his physical appearance.
John - who competed on Strictly back in 2021 - said at the time: "Steroid addiction – the truth. For the past 5 years I've let myself down, I haven't respected my body or my mind, I've put body image before my own wellbeing and before time with my family.
"Steroids have made me want to end my life. That stops today. Right now.
"That stops now. I choose life. I choose health. I choose love. I choose a simpler life. (sic)"
