Thomas Skinner launches Sunday walking club to support men’s mental health
Thomas Skinner has started a free weekly Sunday walking club in Essex, giving men a relaxed, judgement-free space to get fit, talk openly about mental health, and connect with others.
Thomas Skinner has launched a men's Sunday walking club.
The Apprentice 2019 candidate held his first event on January 4 in Great Warley, near Brentwood, Essex, and its purpose is to promote men's mental health.
On January 2, Thomas, 34, penned on Instagram: "Lads, I'm starting a Sunday Walking Club because I genuinely want to help people, and I love walking."
The Strictly Come Dancing 2025 contestant - who encouraged his fans to meet at the Thatchers Arms pub at 8am on January 4 - added that the free event gives men a relaxed, judgement-free space to get fit, talk openly about mental health, and connect with others.
Thomas said: "No running, no pressure, just fresh air and moving ya body.
"It's a chance to get fitter, clear your head, and have a proper chat about whatever's going on in your life. No judgment, no nonsense, just a few blokes walking and talking.
"When we get back, we can enjoy a bacon and scallop roll at my seafood stall."
The Celebrity Apprentice 2025 star added: "I want to do this every Sunday morning with my mate @roberthisee. It's completely free, all men welcome, great for meeting people and having a laugh. (sic)"
And his followers praised the star for doing the event in the post's comments section.
One user said: "This is so wonderful to see and such a great idea. From someone who suffers with anxiety and have also had depression, one of the things that's really helped me is being outdoors.
"I've made friends with some lovely men during my walks and when I've opened up about my struggles, they often have too.
"They've also all said the same things ... men still find it hard to be honest about things that are bothering them. I can hand on my heart say, this walk will turn someone's life around (sic)."
A second person typed: "Will get down to 1 of them walks mate as u know my passion is Mental Health and helping others so well done Tom great idea mate (sic)."
And a third supporter left: "What a great idea! Brilliant to see men not ignoring mental health. Hope you get a really good turnout like they say a problem aired is a problem shared. Well done (sic)."
On January 4, Thomas took to Instagram and shared his delight that a big group of men turned out for the walk.
Captioning a shot of everyone standing outside the Thatchers Arms boozer, he wrote: "What a wonderful morning the Walk was!
"We are back at the pub and had a beautiful time walking, talking and enjoying the Brentwood countryside. The weather was fantastic and I met some lovely fellas. Great to see blokes supporting blokes!
"We are going to do this 8am every Sunday! You are all welcome to come, the more the merrier.
"It’s been brilliant to have a nice walk and put an arm around each other. Thank you so much for everyone coming down and supporting. Now I hope you all enjoy your Sunday. Happy Sunday. What a success."
