Nick Knowles hasn't been watching Strictly Come Dancing this year
Nick Knowles admits that he hasn't watched this year's series of Strictly Come Dancing, even though he competed on the BBC show last year.
Nick Knowles hasn't watched Strictly Come Dancing this year.
The 63-year-old star took part in the BBC Latin and Ballroom competition in 2024 – where he and his professional partner Luba Mushtuk were eliminated in week four – but hasn't had the time to tune into the current series.
Asked if he'd been watching Strictly, Nick told Express.co.uk: "To be honest, I'm too busy.
"I've been out filming and working, and as you saw last year, I was about as mobile as a wheelie bin. So it's not a natural environment for someone my size and shape. So no, I haven't really been following it this year."
Nick was forced to miss week three of Strictly last year due to injury and quipped that it came about as a result of "trying to dance like a 25 year old".
The DIY SOS host said: "The trouble was, you get enthusiastic and the show gets you all sort of whipped up, and I'm suddenly trying to dance like a 25 year old when I'm actually in my 60s.
"If I'd remembered that I was in my 60s I might have done a bit better. But you go at it because you want to compete and you don't want to be that joke candidate. So you go at it really hard."
Nick added: "But I'm not really much for going back to stuff after I've done it. So I did the Strictly thing. That was great fun. I did the jungle thing (I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! in 2018), that was great fun whilst I was doing it. But I don't feel any particular draw to go back or be involved."
The presenter explained that he decided to sign up for Strictly because of his family's background in the arts.
Knowles said: "I come from a family of artsy people. My three sisters are all dancers, and my brother is a musician. So I grew up in a family that had dance around it all the time.
"So it's something that I enjoy, but never really did, because I was out playing rugby and doing things like that. But when the opportunity came up, I thought, actually, that should be quite good fun."
