Michael Le Vell and Sally Dynevor have signed new Coronation Street contracts amid speculation their characters, Kevin Webster and Sally Metcalfe, will reunite.
Michael Le Vell and Sally Dynevor have signed new Coronation Street contracts.
The pair - who play former couple Kevin Webster and Sally Metcalfe - are said to be "delighted" with their new six-figure, one-year deals, which come amid mounting speculation that their characters could reunite once again, having previously being married from 1986–1999 and 2002–2012.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “The former on-screen couple have grown close over the last few months.
“Kevin’s wife Abi, actress Sally Carmen, left him for his brother and Sally has been helping him with his heartache and was also there for him during his recent testicular cancer battle.
“These two have been at the heart of Weatherfield for more than four decades so it would be a real plot twist to reunite them.”
Sally will mark her 40th year on the cobbles next year and previously insisted she is keen to stay on the soap for the decades to come.
She told Woman's Weekly magazine: "I'm not a retiring person.
"I want to keep working, it's good for my brain. So, if they still want me, maybe I'll be in the show in my 70s and 80s. I'll just keep going.
"It's such a great job and I feel very grateful I've still got it after 40 years. I'm not in it as much as I used to be, but I drove in the other day and, as the barrier went up, I just had this huge smile because it felt like I was home. I knew I was going to have a fun day."
Having a strong work-life balance is important for Sally.
The soap star said: "I've got such a lovely routine now.
"On a day off, I'll go to the gym or for a swim, in the morning, then come back and have breakfast. I might go for a walk, and afterwards I'll meet a friend."
Sally celebrated her 60th birthday in 2023 and says that she feels a sense of freedom at her age.
She explained: "I'm really enjoying this time of my life. In your 60s, you can just be yourself. You don't have to worry about all those things that younger people fret about."
