Martin Kemp didn't compete for airtime on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!
Spandau Ballet musician Martin Kemp was happy to let his younger I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! campmates do "magic tricks" for airtime on the ITV reality show.
Martin Kemp felt that his younger campmates were doing "magic tricks" to get airtime on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!.
The Spandau Ballet star was the sixth celebrity to leave the jungle in Thursday's (04.12.25) episode of the ITV reality show and was happy to sit in the background while contestants such as rapper Aitch and YouTuber Angry Ginge were more concerned about coming across well on the programme.
Speaking on ITV's Good Morning Britain on Friday (05.12.25), Martin said: "I suppose my role was to let the kids be kids and bring a little bit of calm into the camp and I knew that was going to be my role, I'm not one who wants to jump in front of the camera and do magic tricks.
"Those guys are at the beginning, they're starting off in their careers and that's what they wanna do and I absolutely get it. I'm at the other end of the scale and I'm just there for the experience and I love that!"
Martin also revealed that he hopes Celebs Go Dating star Tom Read Wilson is crowned King of the Jungle when the series comes to an end this weekend.
The 64-year-old star said: "I would love Tom to win. Tom is the most authentic, biggest heart I have met for years. He's the only man I've met for a long time who looks you in the eye, tells you he loves you, and you know he means it."
In his initial exit interview, Martin – who was greeted by his wife Shirlie Kemp following his departure – joked that his whole I'm A Celebrity experience was a "weird trip".
He told hosts Ant and Dec: "I have dreamt about this moment.
"It's just a weird trip. I loved just sitting around and talking with the others. I said it a few times on there, I'm not one for making new friends and this is the first time I've done it in years and I absolutely loved it.
"Coming out now, I feel like I've done everything I wanted to do, experienced it and I can walk out with some brilliant anecdotes.
"I wasn't one of those guys that was dancing and singing and stuff, I just brought a calm energy."
