Disney cartoon made I'm A Celebrity... star Ruby Wax believe periods only 'happened to mice'
Ruby Wax recalled on Thursday (27.11.25) night's episode of I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! how a misguided school cartoon about Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse left her believing menstruation only happened to rodents.
Ruby Wax freaked out on her first period because she thought it only "happened to mice".
In school, a cartoon of Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse taught the comedienne and her classmates sex, and the animation told them that Minnie had bled from menstruation.
And Ruby, 72, believed the short film explained that bleeding from the vagina as part of the menstrual cycle only happened to female rodents - and not women.
During Thursday (27.11.25) night's episode of ITV's I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!, Ruby explained to her campmates, Emmerdale star Lisa Riley, 49, and 40-year-old media personality Vogue Williams: "In school, to teach us about sex, they used a cartoon with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, they would suck up, and then Minnie got her period.
"And so I thought it was just something that happened to mice. I didn't get that it was just showing us. And so when I finally got my period. I thought, 'Oh my God, this is freakish, this is only supposed to happen to Minnie."
The Ruby Wax Meets legend criticised her school for not giving its students "instructions" on how to have sex.
And the lack of knowledge caused Ruby to have her legs closed when she slept with someone.
Ruby admitted: "I tried to sleep with somebody, but nobody gave me instructions, like I didn't know you were supposed to open your legs, so I had them shut, wearing my false eyelashes. I didn't know anything."
The candid conversation also led to Ruby revealing he would "stalk men" because she was terrified to chat to them.
She explained: "I stalk men in my life. I stalk them. I did it in school where I had a crush on somebody, but I was too shy to talk to them, so I really did it behind the pillars because he looked like Michael Caine, and eventually, my girlfriend slept with him.
"I never spoke to her again, and I sent her a card that said, 'Congratulations on your grand opening,' you know, for something else.
"But I used to stalk men because I was too scared to talk to them. I lurk and follow. And they never turned around and said, 'Oh my God, you're so beautiful.'"
But Ruby did not use her "stalking" technique to get with her 70-year-old husband, film producer and television director Ed Bye.
Appearing on Thursday night's episode of I'm A Celebrity...Unpacked! Ed - who married Ruby in 1988 - told hosts Joel Dommett, 40, and 30 year old Kemi Rodgers: "No, she didn't stalk me.
"I was directing a TV show called Girls on Top - available on ITVX - and I was, sort of, the only bloke there because all the other cast were girls; Dawn French, Jennifer Saunders, Tracey Ullman.
"So I think by the fact that I was the only man around, I became more and more attractive to her."
