Love Island's Joe Garratt 'mugged' in Los Angeles
Joe Garratt - who took part in the 2019 series of Love Island and the 2024 All Stars season of the dating show - took to his Instagram Stories on Tuesday (25.11.25) and said he was "mugged" in Los Angeles and ran for "three blocks in cowboy boots" to catch the thieves.
Former Love Island star Joe Garratt was "mugged" in Los Angeles and chased the thieves down the street.
The 29-year-old TV personality - who did the 2019 series of the ITV dating show, as well as its 2024 All Stars season - is suffering from "shin splints" after he sprinted for "three blocks in cowboy boots" to catch them.
Joe revealed the terrifying ordeal on his Instagram Stories on Tuesday (25.11.25), saying: "Got robbed in LA and then proceeded to chase them for 3 blocks in cowboy boots.
"Stay safe out there pls. Oh yeah, if anyone's got any quick remedies for shin splints ... shout your boy x (sic)."
The incident happened just weeks after the hunk revealed he had found God after reconnecting with his faith.
Appearing on The Way UK podcast - which "breaks assumptions around Christianity - Joe said: "You don’t need perfection to come to God.
"You need to come to God in search of his perfection. And that’s what it is."
Asked what led him to God and the impact that has had in his life, Joe replied: "I felt as if when I used to drink - I wasn’t a bad drinker - I just felt like it would lead me to doing things that didn’t align with the man I said I was.
"And it definitely didn’t align with the Christian values I’m trying to go forward with."
He added: "Sin seems more digestible when drunk or, and again, this is if you can handle your alcohol, and it’s fine, so be it. But I just personally, it wasn’t serving me anymore.
"And again, it didn’t align with the - I like to be a man of my word, and it wasn’t aligned with the man I was telling people I was."
And Joe said the experience had been "amazing".
He added: "If anything, it’s definitely brought me closer to God for sure."
Joe fell in love with Lucie Donlan on Love Island in 2019, but the pair broke up, with Lucie now engaged to 2020 contestant Luke Mabbott.
In September, onlookers at the National Television Awards thought there was chemistry between Joe and 31 year old Ekin-Su Culculoglu - who won Love Island in 2020 with her 30-year-old ex-partner Davide Sanclimenti - in the VIP section at a party after the awards bash.
And an attendee claims they overheard Joe asking Ekin-Su on a date.
An insider told The Sun: "Ekin-Su and Joe have real chemistry together, it was obvious just looking over at them. They didn't stop laughing and joking around after bumping into each other at the afterparty.
"Joe was heard testing the waters about a date with Ekin - saying he'd always hoped they could hang out more.
"[It could be] another Love Island couple in the making."
