Alan Carr fears he's too sweaty to host Strictly Come Dancing.
The 49-year-old TV star is rumoured to be among the names being lined up to take over hosting duties from Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman when they step down at the end of the year after finding huge success as the winner of The Celebrity Traitors, but Alan is concerned the job would be too "nerve-wracking" for him.
In an interview with the Radio Times magazine, he explained: "Apparently my name is in the hat [for Strictly Come Dancing], which is an honour, but I haven’t spoken to anyone at the BBC.
"You saw how sweaty I was in the castle [on The Celebrity Traitors], imagine me live on a Saturday night coming down those stairs [on Strictly] – people would slip in a pool of my sweat while doing the fandango.
"It’s lovely to be thought of, but it’s probably a bit too nerve-racking."
The Daily Mail newspaper previously reported Alan was being considered for a role on the TV talent show. An insider told the publication: "People just love Alan ... [Viewers] loved him and [think] he has been the star of the Traitors ...
"He has got to be up there with the BBC to get a huge new role ... Wink, wink, nudge, nudge, Strictly."
A BBC source added: "Alan has always been a star – but it’s amazing what a month in a Scottish castle can do to elevate your career. He’s ours now."
Alan won The Celebrity Traitors after becoming the only traitor to make it to the final and during his time on the show, the TV star admitted he couldn't stop sweating due to nerves.
He said: "I thought I wanted to be a Traitor, but I have a sweating problem, and I can't keep a secret … What am I going to do?"
However, he managed to conquer his nerves and by the end of the show he was convince he was actually a very good liar after managed to convince all the other players he was a faithful.
He said: "I started this game as a bit of nervous wreck. I’ve thrown some really good friends under the bus, I’ve murdered national treasures in plain slight.
"I’m clearly a better liar and a better Traitor than I thought I was."
