Alan Carr saved friend from knife-wielding assailant
Cleo Rocos has told how Alan Carr came to her rescue when a man threatened her with a knife.
Alan Carr saved his friend from a knife-wielding attacker.
The Celebrity Traitors winner was in Marrakesh, Morocco, with Cleo Rocos when a man in his 40s appeared from nowhere and grabbed the 63-year-old actress' arm and while she was terrified, her pal remained "surprisingly calm" and manage to disarm the guy.
Cleo told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “I pushed him away but he grabbed me tighter and, in really bad English, he said he wanted to be with me.
“We didn’t think he was being serious but then he pulled a knife out.
“It was probably about ten inches long.
“Most people would have been terrified, but Alan was surprisingly calm.
“He pulled me to the other side of him, so he was standing between me and the man, and he said, ‘Don’t be so rude’.
“Before the man could react, he slapped the knife out of his hand.
“The man wasn’t expecting that and I was shocked.
“We walked off at a pace and we kept looking behind us wondering if this man was going to come at us again with the knife.
“But Alan had really knocked the wind out of him — he didn’t punch him or anything but he disarmed him and he was so brave in the way he handled it.
“That night could have gone terribly wrong, but Alan dealt with the situation so decisively — he literally saved my life.”
Cleo praised the Chatty Man star for his "humble" and modest nature.
She gushed: “I recounted the story when I got back home, but Alan never mentioned it again.
“That’s how humble he is.
“And I suddenly realised that Alan is a really big person.
“He is much taller than people realise and he is also strong and chivalrous despite his nervous demeanour.
“He’s a real gentleman, which is so nice, and he’s very protective.”
And Cleo hopes the 49-year-old comic will be able to take his career even further now following his Celebrity Traitors win.
She said: “I’m so proud of him.
“I think this will fling the doors wide open for him to do films.
“He would make a great Bond villain, like the one with the cat, because they are always a little comical."
