Ninth contestant leaves The Great British Bake Off
Toby, the 29-year-old business development executive, has left The Great British Bake Off.
Toby has become the latest contestant to exit The Great British Bake Off.
The 29-year-old business development executive has fallen at the semi-final stage, after he failed to impress the Bake Off judges.
After his elimination was confirmed, Toby explained: "It’s tough to come back from serving a puddle of mousseline … I had a good comeback today … It’s the good bits that I find hard to talk about.
"The best thing of being in the tent is definitely the people. The handshake was good, the star baker was good, but yeah the people were the best bit."
Despite this, Dame Prue Leith heaped praise on Toby, observing that he progressed a lot through the series.
She explained: "I think Toby in a way was our least confident baker when we started. He has learned so much. He’s a really talented baker."
Elsewhere, Paul Hollywood admitted that Toby paid the price for one small mistake.
Paul said: "It took a while for Prue and I to discuss everything. It goes to show how tight things are on Bake Off. It came down to that one mistake and that unfortunately was the downfall of Toby."
Meanwhile, Toby previously admitted that he never imagined appearing on the hit TV show.
Toby actually found being hired for the Bake Off to be a "surreal" experience, admitting that he "couldn’t stop laughing" after being told the news.
He said: "I just somehow kept getting the call to tell me I was through to the next stage of interviews.
"I'm still convinced there was a mistake in the casting process! When I finally got the call to tell me I was going to be a baker, I was in absolute disbelief. I was in the kitchen, staring at my girlfriend trying to hold it together but I couldn’t stop laughing. It was so surreal."
