The 53-year-old former sportsman has become the the fourth celebrity to be eliminated from the 2025 series of Strictly Come Dancing, after he found himself in the dreaded dance-off against Amber Davies.

After his exit was confirmed, Jimmy - who was partnered with Strictly professional Lauren Oakley on the show - said: "I have absolutely loved my experience. I can only say thank you very much for letting me have this experience and to my daughters for pushing me to come here and do this. I never expected that I would enjoy it this much."

Jimmy - who played for the likes of Chelsea and Leeds United during his sports career - also heaped praise on Lauren.

He shared: "This experience is going to live with me forever.

"Most importantly, [to Lauren] this girl is just absolutely incredible. She has been absolutely amazing with me. You are a diamond."

Lauren also revealed that she loved her time with Jimmy.

The dancer admitted to feeling proud of the progress Jimmy has made on the show.

She said: "I enjoyed it so much and I am absolutely gutted that it’s come to an end. We’ve had so many laughs. We have had the best time and I am so proud of how far he has come.

"And it proves that anyone can be a dancer if you put your mind to it.

"He’s a footballer! And he just danced like that. We’ve had the best time and I’m just so proud and I feel honoured to have been able to teach you. You’ve been an amazing student."

Jimmy previously confessed that he was stepping out of his comfort zone by taking part on the TV show.

The sports star told Radio Times magazine: "Football, for me, is so easy. Dancing is out of my comfort zone. But that's a good thing.

"When you stop playing football, you're not really in that competitive kind of world. It's nice to dip back in."
