Joe Marler has been jobless since he wrapped filming Celebrity Traitors and quit rugby.

The 35-year-old star - who retired from the sport in 2024, and shot the BBC's ultimate game of backstabbing, betrayal and deceit in the spring - wants a role that can last him for the next "30 years".

Joe told The Sun newspaper's TVBiz column: "I need to work, I'm trying to find a job now, I don't play rugby anymore.

"I've now got to knuckle down and work out what to do for the next 30 years."

The former sportsman also revealed that no one in his Sussex village talks to him.

Joe admitted: "No one in Heathfield likes me, so no one comes up to me, so that's fine.

"People come up to me in other places now, and they go, 'Are you that guy who wears dungarees on Traitors,' as opposed to, 'Are you that rugby player that used to wind people up?'"

Elsewhere, Joe said he is often questioned on whether he is famous enough to be on Celebrity Traitors.

The hunk - who is one of 19 stars taking part in the show, alongside the likes of comedian Alan Carr, 49, actress Celia Imrie, 73, and 39-year-old singer-songwriter Charlotte Church - told the BBC: "The question I get the most is 'How did you get on that show?' There's loads of celebrities on there."

Joe - who won 95 England caps and won the Six Nations Championships three times - is appreciative that rugby has opened more doors for him.

He said: "I'm grateful because rugby gave me that platform for people to go, 'Let's bring this hairy, mohawked, slightly unconventional rugby player to come to this.'

"It's always nice, and it's stuff I enjoy doing."

Joe filmed Celebrity Traitors in the spring, and the show has been airing every Wednesday and Thursday on BBC One since October 8.

And he has revelled in watching the game show - which currently sees 16 Faithfuls working together to unmask Traitors Alan, broadcaster Jonathan Ross, 64, and 25-year-old singer-songwriter Cat Burns.

The Faithfuls need to catch the Traitors before they steal the prize pot at the end of the series.

Joe said: "I've seen the other 18 points of view and conversations that have gone on behind my back."
