Rebecca Adlington is pregnant with a "miracle" baby almost two years after losing a daughter in late pregnancy.

The former swimming champion was left devastated after discovering her daughter Harper didn't have a heartbeat at her 20-week scan in 2023, and she's admitted it's been an "emotional and physical rollercoaster" as she tried for another child with her husband Andy Parsons but they are now looking forward to adding another baby to their family.

In a post on Instagram, Rebecca, 36, wrote: "We want to share that we are expecting a child. It has been an emotional and physical rollercoaster navigating these past 19 months of trying, but this pregnancy has been a small miracle.

"We questioned whether we wanted to share this news but we want to continue to be open and honest about our journey and be mindful of the struggles that others have had and continue to have.

"We are taking each day as it comes and are incredibly grateful for the care we are receiving from the NHS (Rainbow Team) and are feeling overwhelmingly supported by them.

"While we are cautiously overjoyed, we carry awareness of the quiet struggles many face, and we send love to those hearts too. We know so many people are still waiting for this kind of news."

Rebecca also has a daughter Summer from a previous relationship as well as a son, Albie, with Andy.

After sports star's devastating loss of her daughter Harper, she shared the sad news with fans in a post on Instagram, which read: "I don't really have the words right now but unfortunately we went for our 20 week scan this week and they discovered no heartbeat.

"I gave birth to our angel, Harper on Friday at 7pm. We held her, and had time with her. We will forever love and remember her always."

The loss came a year after Rebecca suffered another miscarriage at 12 weeks and she was subsequently struck down with sepsis and kidney failure.

She praised her “angel” husband and the rest of her family who “rallied around” as she struggled to come to terms with her loss and her own health crisis.

She told OK! Magazine: “It was really scary because I felt so ill. Andy was an angel and did absolutely everything. My parents looked after the kids and they all rallied around, but it took some time to come to terms with everything.”

The Olympic champion added: "It’s not easy to get pregnant. I just don’t want to put loads of pressure on it or have any expectations. Especially when people start asking every single month, ‘Are you pregnant?’.

"I don’t want to deal with that while working full-time and having two kids. If it happens, it happens. If not, it’s not meant to be."
