Law and Order's Odelya Halevi is expecting her first child.

The 37-year-old actress - who plays Assistant District Attorney Samantha Maroun in the NBC legal drama - and her husband, real estate agent Aaron Mazor, cannot wait to welcome their baby girl into the world in December.

Odelya told People: "I found out I was pregnant the traditional way - peeing on a stick. It was the day after we wrapped season 25 of Law and Order, and looking back, the signs were definitely there.

"I had spent the entire week casually wandering into the producers’ office and helping myself to all the chocolate they had sitting out, which is very unlike me. I remember thinking, 'Who is this person?’ And then it hit me.'"

The beauty could not wait to tell Aaron that they were set to become parents.

She said: "It’s something we both really wanted so deeply. I remember shaking [from] excitement. It was so incredibly intimate and special."

Odelya added: "I can’t wait to meet my little girl. I already feel like I know her in some ways, and I’m so excited to finally see her face, find out who she looks like and get to know what I can only imagine will be a big personality.

"I’m also really looking forward to getting my lungs back...and getting off the couch in one attempt."

Knowing she is set to become a mom has made the difficult periods of pregnancy worth it.

Odelya explained: "Just a few days ago, I felt her kick for the first time. I don’t think there’s a way to fully put that feeling into words.

"Knowing there’s this little life growing inside of me, and now actually feeling her move, creates a connection that’s unlike anything I’ve ever experienced.

"It’s a beautiful reminder every single day of why all the challenges of pregnancy are worth it."

One challenge of pregnancy that has taken the Black Adam alum by surprise is mood swings.

Odelya admitted: "The thing that I wasn’t fully prepared for was how amplified and intense my emotions would be. I barely recognised myself. Almost like having a split personality."

She continued: "During my first trimester, we were moving into an apartment that we had spent almost a year renovating. It was something I had been so excited about.

"I suddenly hated everything about it. I knew it wasn’t rational. I knew I had been counting down the days until we moved in, and I knew I was overreacting."

Odelya would have meltdowns over little things.

The entertainer went on: "I remember when the movers accidentally broke a plant I’d ‘raised’ for four years, I cried hysterically, like I had lost a loved one. Then I started laughing because I realised how dramatic I was being, but I still couldn’t stop crying.

"My husband found me sitting in a dark room all by myself, mourning the loss...Under any other circumstances I would have just gone out and bought another one, but I genuinely needed about a week to recover from the ‘travesty.'"

Odelya is also navigating pregnancy cravings.

She shared: "I just figured I was eating more of the foods I already loved.

"But then the other night, I was lying in bed, trying to fall asleep after my oatmeal with date syrup and a frozen banana, and I caught myself thinking, 'I cannot wait to wake up tomorrow so I can eat this again.'

"I’m genuinely looking forward to breakfast before I’ve even fallen asleep. Also, I never liked oatmeal before I got pregnant."
