The chef had always expected to be stern when his girls started dating, but he's embraced the 24-year-old star's romance with the 29-year-old swimmer - who has three-year-old son George with former partner Eirianedd Munro and gets on "very well" with the Olympian.
A source told heat magazine: "Gordon always joked that he would be awful when his daughters started dating, but he has really taken Adam under his wing and thinks he is the perfect partner for Holly. He's seen how hard Adam has worked and what he has been through. Gordon has helped him a lot and has already give his blessing for him to propose to Holly.
"Gordon had his doubts when Holly first started going out with Adam as he is very protective. But they get on very well and Adam really looks up to Gordon as both a dad and a husband."
If Adam does pop the question, insiders expect the nuptials to be a lavish affair.
The source said: "Holly would be the first of Gordon's children to get married, so they will definitely go all out. Both she and Adam are religious so it would be a church wedding, followed by an intimate - yet still lavish - reception."
