Kate Hudson made a "bad call" when she turned down a role in 'The Devil Wears Prada' and admits she "should have made it happen".
Kate Hudson made a "bad call" when she turned down a role in 'The Devil Wears Prada'.
The 45-year-old actress had been approached to play the leading role of Andrea Sachs in the 2006 film - which follows a fashion intern as she becomes an assistant to notorious magazine editor Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) - and couldn't do it because of a scheduling conflict.
Speaking on 'Capital Breakfast, she said: "That was a bad call.
"It was a timing thing, it was one of those things where I couldn’t do it, and I should’ve made it happen, and I didn’t. That was one where when I saw it I was like, ‘Ugh. ’"
The 'Almost Famous' star added that it wasn't as if she "didn't want" to do the film in the first place and insisted that it just "sucked" that she wasn't able to take on the project,
She said: "It’s funny, it’s waves of things that are happening and people shooting at different times. It’s not like you don’t do them because you don’t want to do them. It’s like, oh, you’re doing something else. And it just sucked, you know?"
In the end, Anne Hathaway took on the role of Andrea, and Meryl earned an Oscar nomination for her role as Miranda, who is thought to have been inspired by Vogue legend Anna Wintour.
The film has gone on to become a West End musical starring former 'Ugly Betty' actress Vanessa Williams and Emily Blunt - who played Emily Charlton in the film - recently admitted that there were "rumblings" of a sequel but couldn't say much about the idea of a new movie.
She told The Hollywood Reporter: "There (are) rumblings. There is stuff churning around. But I don’t know if I can confirm anything. But we would all be delighted."
