Mason Gooding teases Ghostface is 'the most brutal he's been' in Scream 7
Mason Gooding has teased 'Scream 7' features some pretty gory scenes that will have fans churning at the stomach.
Mason Gooding has teased that Ghostface is "the most brutal he's been" in 'Scream 7'.
The 28-year-old actor – who is reprising his role as Chad Meeks-Martin in the upcoming instalment in the iconic slasher franchise – has revealed that the masked killer (voiced by Roger L. Jackson) will be scarier than ever and praised director and original writer Kevin Williamson for “breaking new ground” with one particular scene where the terrifying antagonist does “some stuff” to the “human body”.
He told Variety: "It feels like an amplification of what's came before, and there's no better indication of that than Kevin Williamson, who wrote the original, coming back now to direct.
"I think that Ghostface is absolutely the most brutal he's been. I don't want to spoil anything, but there's some stuff that they do to the human body that I feel like Kevin is breaking new ground with."
Mason went on to add that viewers could be in for some stomach-churning, describing the much-anticipated flick as “gross, but in a good way”.
He said: "There was a prosthetic that sat in the makeup trailer that actually turned my stomach over.
"You'll know what I'm talking about when you see it, but it's incredible stuff. They really have an incredible effects team over there and they're working overtime."
Mason is thrilled to work with original star Neve Campbell, 51, who has reprised her role as Sidney Prescott.
He said: "I get to work with Neve [in ‘Scream 7'], who I didn't get a great opportunity to see and talk to on a personal level [on ‘Scream 5'].
"So in this case, even just getting to be around her feels like I'm getting part of that history and I feel better for it."
Courteney Cox, 60, is also returning as Gale Weathers, as well as Matthew Lillard, 55, Scott Foley, 52, who portrayed Stu Macher and Roman Bridger, respectively, in 1996’s ‘Scream’ and 2000’s ‘Scream 3’.
Matthew was one of the original Ghostface killers in the first movie but was killed off when Sidney dropped a TV on his head.
Deadline confirmed the news after the actor shared a teaser on Instagram, in which his hand could be seen writing one of Stu's famous quotes.
All in capital letters, the writing stated: "My mom and dad are gonna be soo mad at me!! (sic)"
Roman was Sidney's half-brother, another presumed dead Ghostface.
No details of either actor's return storylines have been revealed, including whether or not they will be reprising the same roles.
‘Grace and Frankie' star Ethan Embry, 46, is the latest star to board the cast in unknown role.
‘Scream 7’ is slated for release in February 2026.
