Ed Sheeran and Martin Garrix crash wedding
Ed Sheeran and Martin Garrix gatecrashed a fan's wedding over the weekend after receiving a DM from the bride's brother.
Ed Sheeran and Martin Garrix crashed a wedding on Saturday (27.06.26).
The pair were both booked to perfom in Chicago and received a message of social media from Mike Kindelin, who asked them to make a surprise appearance at his sister Tessa and groom Brendan Harty's celebrations at the Adler Planetarium and they were happy to oblige.
Documenting the moment on Instagram, Ed said in a Reel: "Right. Martin did a show, I did a show. He got a DM from someone saying, Can you crash my sister's wedding?"
Martin said: "So we're going there."
Ed added: "We're gonna go and crash the wedding. See you in a bit."
The clip then cut to their journey, before shoing them being greeted by Mike, who said: "Got my friends here, Martin and Ed. They decided to crash my sister's wedding."
Ed and Martin entered the venue to cheers of surprise, and broke into their song Repeat It, joining the happy couple and their guests on the dance floor.
Tessa told ABC7 Chicago: "People say that the wedding is going to be the best day of your life, but, I mean, that was just above and beyond anything I ever could have expected.
"We had kind of joked about and talked about, you know, 'What if we invited them to our wedding?'...
"The crowd erupted, I knew that Mike had been talking to Martin Garrix, but I had no idea that Ed Sheeran was coming with them, too. So, I came up from the crowd and I, you know, heard their song playing. And then I saw Ed, and I was like, 'Oh my God!'"
"I can't believe they both came. It was unbelievable."
Brendan found the moment they arrived "surreal" and it topped off their big day.
He also suggested Ed had sang more than just Repeat It.
He said: ""It was surreal. Yeah, it was disbelief...
"I mean, I got to dance with my wife and Ed Sheeran sang Perfect to us. So how could it get any better?"
Tessa admitted the surprise still feels unreal, even though she's rewatched videos from the moment captured by her guests.
She said: "It was amazing. I have watched that video multiple different angles from all my friends and I still can't believe that that happened."
Wedding videographer, Lawrence Trantham, added: "You could almost like - the bride was about to pass out, that's how shocked she was seeing Ed Sheeran.
"Everyone was almost basically bouncing off the walls, jumping up and down, like some people was like completely shell shocked, mouth agape, eyes wide open."
This isn't the first time Ed has crashed a wedding.
In September 2023, he took time out of his schedule ahead of a Las Vegas concert to pop into the famous Little White Wedding Chapel to surprise couple Jordan and Carter Lindenfield during their wedding ceremony.
A video posted on his Instagram page shows the couple looking shocked as the singer walked into the venue with a small choir to serenade the bride and groom with a performance of his song Magical which featured the lyrics: "This is how it feels to be in love/ This is magical, this is magical/ Is this how it feels to be in love?/ This is magical, this is magical."
After the couple said their vows, Ed acted as a witness and signed the couple's marriage licence for them.
After he posted video of the big day on Instagram, newly-wed Jordan commented: "THANK YOU SO MUCH for the most magical day of our lives ... we’ll truly never forget this or the wedding advice you gave us."
