The lyrics are poignant
The song opens with Lennon singing over a piano, crooning: "And all is true, it's all because of you. And if I make it through, it's all because of you."
Although it's not thought the words were written about The Beatles, the timing of the initial demo after the Fab Four's break-up add another meaning when hearing Lennon and McCartney together again.
In the middle eight, they sing: "Now and then I miss you / Now and then I want you to be there for me."
