Also in 2004, Britney married backing dancer Kevin Federline and went on to have sons Sean Preston and Jayden with him. When they divorced in 2007, having cited "irreconcilable differences" Kevin was granted full custody after Britney had endured a public breakdown.

In the wake of the 2021 termination of a conservatorship that had been put in place around that time, Kevin did a tell-all interview in which he claimed the boys had "no interest" in seeing their mother and she later claimed she was "saddened" by his comments.

Britney wrote on Instagram: "It saddens me to hear that my ex-husband has decided to discuss the relationship between me and my children!"
