Alina Kabaeva is rumoured to have become "infatuated with one of her security officers" as the Russian tyrant has been fixated on the war with Ukraine.
Kabaeva, who won a gold medal at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, is believed to have a secret family of two or three children with Putin but the Telegram channel General SVR says that all is not well in the relationship.
The channel said: "Allegedly the affair had been developing for some time."
It is claimed that Putin "has been openly ignoring Kabaeva lately" and refuses to see her when "being in the same residence".
The Ukrainian media outlet Obozrevatel reports that the Russian autocrat was non-plussed when told of the alleged affair.
It is said that Putin barely reacted to the news and "did not try to find out the details and the name of Alina's new favourite".
The publication said: "Kabaeva has three children from Putin, but she has an affair with a security guard."
The outlet also revealed that senior figures in the Kremlin have been watching the drama in Putin's personal life with fascination.
Obozrevatel stated: "The inner circle of the dictator, according to an insider, has been watching the serial drama in his personal life for some time."
Putin has never publicly admitted to a relationship with Kabaeva but most Russians accept that she shares his multiple residences and luxury lifestyle.
