A Manchester Childhood

Born William John Paul Gallagher in Burnage, Manchester in 1972, Liam grew up alongside his older brothers Noel and Paul.

The Gallagher family had Irish Catholic roots, and Liam and Noel both left school without qualifications before music became their escape.

Liam eventually joined local band The Rain, which he helped rename Oasis, setting the stage for one of Britain's biggest rock stories.
