Sir Lewis Hamilton
Seven-time Formula One world champion Sir Lewis Hamilton has dominated one of the most high-pressure, dangerous sporting disciplines on Earth, yet he has been incredibly open about his decades-long battle with severe depression and anxiety. The Ferrari driver revealed that the intense mental toll began during his childhood due to racing pressures and racial bullying, persisting all the way into his historic professional career.
Dismantling the old-school stoicism of the paddock, Hamilton candidly shared his coping mechanisms and self-reckonings, stating: "I’ve struggled with mental health my whole life, from a very early age. It's about learning what triggers you, how to manage it, and realising that it is okay to speak out and show your vulnerabilities."
