The I'm Still Standing artist quit Twitter in December 2022 due to his concern at changes to the platform's content moderation policies following billionaire Elon Musk's acquisition of the site earlier that year.

In his final tweet, the music legend wrote: "All my life I've tried to use music to bring people together. Yet it saddens me how misinformation is now being used to divide our world.

"I've decided to no longer use Twitter, given their recent change in policy which will allow misinformation to flourish unchecked."
