Chappell Roan joins Viva Glam for 'incredibly special' partnership
Pink Pony Club singer Chappell Roan has opened up about her new Viva Glam role.
Chappell Roan is the newest Viva Glam global ambassador.
The Pink Pony Club hitmaker has expanded her relationship with MAC Cosmetics and followed in the footsteps of RuPaul, Rihanna, Lady Gaga and more with a range of Viva Glam products, which include the Unnatural Red Head matte lipstick, the Roan of Arc sheer lipstick, and the Damnsel gloss.
She told WWD in a statement: "Viva Glam has always been about more than makeup. It’s about showing up for communities and making real change.
"Being able to create these shades and know that every purchase gives back makes this partnership feel incredibly special to me."
The brand's global director Nicola Formichetti, who has recently passed a year mark in his role, insisted the 28-year-old singer is a natural fit.
He added: "[She] as that Gaga energy, that RuPaul energy, that Elton John energy.
"For me, Chappell is one of the most important artists of this generation. She’s creative and an incredible musician, but that authenticity is something you like in a pop star.”
Viva Glam has remained rooted in philanthropy over the past 32 years, and they have donated $300,000 to Chappell's Midwest Princess Projects nonprofit foundation.
Meanwhile, Nancy Mahon, senior vice president, global corporate citizenship and sustainability, explained that Chappell was a natural fit given how she "represents younger people".
She said: "I don’t think there’s any group of people that care more about values as the brand continues to grow.
"Whether it be online or in-store, keeping this up is going to be super important."
Late last year, Chappell joined MAC Cosmetics as a new global ambassador.
She said in a press release at the time: "Partnering with MAC feels full circle.
“This brand has always made space for people like me; since day one they’ve embraced art, queerness, drag and self-expression.
"I’ve built a special relationship with the MAC team over the years, and they’ve been amazing and thoughtful collaborators on this new journey.”
Chappell has collaborated with the brand in the past, including at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, and an appearance for Saturday Night Live the same year.
They also worked together at the Grammy Awards earlier this year, which makeup artist Andrew Dahling described as "an archive moment".
