Eddie Murphy as Inspector Clouseau in The Pink Panther

Peter Sellers portrayed the bumbling detective in the original Pink Panther series, though the franchise was thrown into disarray when the actor passed away in 1980.

The series was rebooted with Steve Martin as Inspector Clouseau in 2006’s The Pink Panther, but the movie was poorly received.

Nearly 20 years later, Eddie Murphy has confirmed he is due to take over for a new, race-swapped version of the detective.

The Shrek star teased: “Yeah, I’m the new Clouseau … He’s Black, for sure.”
