Origins
The idea for Back to the Future came when writer Bob Gale stumbled upon his dad’s old high school yearbook while digging through the basement of his parents’ house.
As he flipped through the pages, the scribe started to wonder: would he and his dad have been friends if they’d gone to school together?
He shared the thought with director Robert Zemeckis, who helped shape it into something bigger - adding the twist of a high school kid travelling back in time to meet his parents, only to have his own mother fall for him.
