Richard Gere

Gere’s interest in Buddhism began in his 20s, and he even travelled to Nepal, Tibet to meet the 14th Dalai Lama in 1978. After their meeting, he became a practicing Tibetan Buddhist and supporter of the Dalai Lama. Due to his support of Tibet and specifically the Tibetan Independence Movement, he is banned for life from entering China.
