Brian May

The Queen guitarist has produced some of the greatest music of all time as part of the rock band but is also an accomplished astrophysicist.

May studied physics at mathematics at Imperial College London but was forced to abandon his PhD course when the 'Bohemian Rhapsody' group began to enjoy global success.

He returned to academia in 2007 with the thesis 'A Survey of Radial Velocities in the Zodiacal Dust Cloud' and graduated the following year.
