The studio's ultimatum
For Sony Pictures, there was only one way 'Jumanji' would be made, and that would be if Robin Williams signed on.
However, the actor initially turned the movie down after reading the original script, but eventually agreed to star in the flick after director Joe Johnston and his team frantically re-wrote it.
The director recounted: "The studio said they would make the film if we could get Robin to do it.
"He had passed on the original script. A bunch of us stayed up all night doing a cut-and-paste job and changed a lot around and Robin liked it enough to say yes."
