Cody Rhodes got to finish his story
After losing out on being crowned the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at last year’s WrestleMania, Cody Rhodes finally got to finish his story in the main event of Night 2.
Despite all the odds stacked against him in the Bloodline Rules match against Roman Reigns, Cody was able to bring an end to the Tribal Chief’s 1,316-day reign as champion and win the one title his late father Dusty Rhodes never held.
The match was an epic and when the odds were stacked against Cody due to interference from Bloodline members Jimmy Uso, Solo Sikoa and “The Final Boss” The Rock, the “American Nightmare discovered he had some friends who had his back as Jey Uso, John Cena and The Undertaker all got involved to even the score.
After delivering three Cross Rhodes in a row, Cody was able to pin Roman and rip the title from him.
Afterwards, Cody celebrated in the ring with his wife Brandi Rhodes, his mother and a host of WWE Superstars including Cena, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, Randy Orton, Jey Uso and WWE chief content officer Triple H who Cody called down to the ring.
The scenes were reminiscent of Dusty’s celebrations when he won his first NWA World Heavyweight Championship.
