Bedknobs and Broomsticks helped Angela get cast

The veteran actress had already enjoyed huge success in her career, starring in movies like Disney's 'Bedknobs and Broomsticks' and a stage production of 'Sweeney Todd'.

Producers thought Angela was well-suited to playing the amateur detective. They were initially unsure as to whether she would be interested in joining a TV series - but were pleasantly surprised by Angela's response.
