Mara appeared in a string of box office hits as a child in the '90s, including 'Mrs. Doubtfire', 'Miracle on 34th Street' and 'Matilda'.

Mara opened up on how she felt as though she was treated like an object from an inappropriate age.

Speaking to The New York Times, she said: "It was cute when 10-year-olds sent me letters saying they were in love with me. It was not when 50-year-old men did. Before I even turned 12, there were images of me on foot websites. I felt ashamed.

"Hollywood has resolved to tackle harassment in the industry, but I was never harassed on a film set. My harassment always came at the hands of the public."
