From Lizzie to Lana

Plenty of pop stars use pseudonyms when they are performing in public and Lana is no exception, she was born Elizabeth Woolridge Grant.

Opting for her more exotic-sounding name because she liked the "glamorous" appeal of the seaside.

She said: "I wanted a name I could shape the music towards. I was going to Miami quite a lot at the time, speaking a lot of Spanish with my friends from Cuba, Lana Del Rey reminded us of the glamour of the seaside."
