The ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ star says it's just simply implausible to think that there is no other intelligent life in a universe filled with millions of stars.

The 60-year-old actor said: "Millions of stars, and we're supposed to be the only living creatures? No, there are many things out there, we just don't know.”

Cruise is a long-time Scientologist and so his belief in aliens should come as no surprise.

The Church of Scientology was founded by American sci-fi writer L. Ron Hubbard in 1951.

The author claimed extra-terrestrial beings were sent to Earth by intergalactic ruler Xenu, who then destroyed the aliens by stacking them around volcanoes and blowing them up with hydrogen bombs.

The aliens' souls attached themselves to chosen humans, known as thetans, who will be one day be saved.
