The ‘Gonna Getcha You Good’ hitmaker admitted that times were tough growing up that sometimes she went to school with her “stomach rumbling” but was too proud to ask for help.

The 57-year-old singer told Nightline: "It's very hard to concentrate when your stomach's rumbling. I would certainly never have humiliated myself enough to reach out and ask for help and say, 'You know, I'm hungry. Can I have that apple that you're not going to eat?'"
