Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker's secret heartache
Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker have revealed in his new documentary, Travis Barker: Love Is Louder Than Fear, that she suffered a miscarriage back in 2021.
Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker suffered a miscarriage before welcoming son Rocky in 2023.
The 47-year-old Kardashians star and the 50-year-old Blink 182 drummer revealed in Travis’ new documentary, Travis Barker: Love Is Louder Than Fear, that Kourtney got pregnant in 2021, six months after they started dating.
The baby was a girl – who they planned to call Tulip – but they discovered at a doctor’s appointment three months into the pregnancy that their baby no longer had a heartbeat.
Speaking in the documentary, Kourtney said: “When we lost the baby, we were devastated. We cried for days.”
The couple tried to get pregnant again, with five attempts at IVF in eight months but finally conceived Rocky after taking a break from treatment.
Speaking about the treatment during a 2023 episode of The Kardashians, Kourtney said: “I would love a baby more than anything, but I just really believe in what God has in store for us. If that’s a baby, then I believe that it will happen.
“The freezing of the eggs isn’t guaranteed. I think that that’s a misunderstanding. People do it thinking it’s a safety net and then it’s not. Most of them didn’t survive the thaw and then none of them made it to an embryo.
“My health is still impacted because it’s hormones. And also mentally, it definitely took a toll. So I think just being happy is most important and being a good parent to my kids. We are just embracing that whatever’s meant to be will be.”
Kourtney already has children Mason, 16, Penelope, 13, and Reign, 11, with her former partner Scott Disick, while Travis shares son Landon, 22, and daughter Alabama, 20, with ex-wife Shanna Moakler. He is also a father figure to Moakler’s daughter Atiana, 27, whose father is Oscar De La Hoya.
When Kourtney conceived naturally after stopping IVF treatment, she chose not to share it while filming season four of her family’s Hulu reality show.
Speaking later on the show, she said: “The whole season [I was pregnant]. I am five months pregnant. I have not told most people. I have told my closest friends, my family and my kids. Of course [I know when it happened]. People would always say to us, ‘The second you stop trying, it is just going to happen.’ We stopped doing IVF maybe two months before our [May 2022] wedding. So it took a year for all of those hormones and chemicals to get out of my system. We were not trying whatsoever. I didn’t even check my ovulation anymore.”
Travis Barker: Love Is Louder Than Fear premieres on Hulu August 13.
